Somatic Cell Pattern and Composition of Milk of Holstein Friesian Cross Bred Cattle
نویسنده
چکیده
Holstein Friesian cross bred cow milk samples of different quarters in four stages of lactation were collected from dairy farms in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu and analyzed for composition and somatic cell count (SCC). No significant difference in the SCC was observed between quarters within the lactation stage. Count was significant between stages of lactation after the 2 nd stage. While data obtained in the last stage of lactation had the highest SCC. Significant (P<0.001) increase in SCC was estimated with advancing parity. The milk yield, SNF per cent tended to decrease, while the fat per cent and ash content tended to increase significantly with increase in the SCC as the lactation advances. It was concluded that the SCC can be used as a reliable indicator of udder health and milk composition for selecting the Holstein Friesian cows for milk production. When the SCC exceeds 5.69 log10 units per ml need for a course of antibiotic therapy should be ruled out to save the health of the udder.

Suitability of cross-bred cows for organic farms based on cross-breeding effects on production and functional traits.
Data from 113 Dutch organic farms were analysed to determine the effect of cross-breeding on production and functional traits. In total, data on 33 788 lactations between January 2003 and February 2009 from 15 015 cows were available. Holstein-Friesian pure-bred cows produced most kg of milk in 305 days, but with the lowest percentages of fat and protein of all pure-bred cows in the data set. C...
متن کاملSingle Nucleotide Polymorphism in the Promoter Region of Bovine Interleukin 8 Gene and its Association with Milk Production Traits and Somatic Cell Score of Holstein Cattle in Iran
Background: Interleukie-8 is a proinflammatory cytokine and a potent chemotactic and activation factor for neutrophils. It has been reported to be expressed in high levels by various cell types after immune stimulation and mediates neutrophil recruitment in host. Objectives: The aim of this study was to analysis of the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at position -18...
متن کاملAssociation of TG-repeats in the 5’-flanking region of bovine growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene with milk production traits and somatic cell count in Holstein cattle
The growth hormone receptor (GHR) is a member of cytokine/hematopoietin family that mediates the biological actions of growth hormone (GH) on target tissues. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the association of TG-repeat polymorphisms in the 5’-flanking region of bovine GHR gene with milk production traits and somatic cell score (SCS) in Holstein cattle of Iran. The part of 5’...

Background: Tumor necrosis factor- a (TNF-α) is a cytokine that was identified as a factor with a wide range of proinflammatory activities. The expression of bovine TNF-α in mammary tissue during pregnancy seems to have a role in development of the corresponding glands. Objective: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were defined in 3′-flanking region of...
متن کاملValidation of Reference Genes for Real Time PCR Normalization in Milk Somatic Cells of Holstein Dairy Cattle
Real time-qPCR is the most reliable method for evaluation of mRNA expression levels. However, to obtain accurate results, selection of suitable reference genes is necessary for normalizing the real-time qPCR data. The aim of this research was to validate the expression stability of three potential reference genes (ACTB, GAPDH and UXT) in milk somatic cells of Holstein dairy cattle under differe...
